COTI HI

Cultures Of The Imagination, CONTACT's award winning world building and culture creation program is the foundation for an educational curriculum developed by Oroville High. Two teams of students create two planets, life forms and cultures, and then explore a contact scenario over the weekend of the conference. Carol Anderson and Dave Tamori brought down the Oroville teams again this year to build worlds. Both Carol and Dave are nationally honored teachers, Carol in the sciences and Dave in the arts.

EDUCATION FOR THE FUTURE

CONTACT has a strong role in education and development of innovative curricula. This year our focus was: The Educator and The Art Of Exploration. NASA educator, Don Scott steered this symposium through topics from Lewis and Clarke to the Wright brothers, Mars, SETI, Worldbuilding and robotics. Don said we could also expect to have the STAR CAR in attendance...

SOLSYS

The NAU Solar System Simulation, conceived at CONTACT VII in 1989, was developed into an intercollegiate curriculum by Reed Riner and Melvin Neville at Northern Arizona University as an honors course in Anthropology and Engineering. The simulation has been in operation

each spring semester since 1990 on campuses around the world. Students build a learning environment in virtual space and explore the challenges of communication between their created space colonies. This simulation received national recognition in 1994 for integrating networks and networked information into classroom teaching.
